Reissue of the legendary jazz guitar Selmer style made by my grandfather in the 40s and 50s, and also popularized in the early 2000s by the prestigious guitarist Dorado Schmitt (Vienna festival with Bireli Lagrene).

It has the particularity to have an arched back (curved molded) without back braces offering to the guitar a big sound projection and characteristic tone of the time, the famous “Oldschool sound”.

With his intermediate D hole format, designed by my grandfather and become one of the distinguishing features of the brand, it offers maximum versatility in terms of playability. The mold used was the one used by my grandfather in time and materials including mahogany and cedar top from a very old stock from the years 40, that belonged therefore to my grandfather and then my father.

According to the original, its neck is mahogany integrating a trussrod intended to optimize playing comfort, and has a vintage patina type finish.

This guitar received glorious reviews in Guitarist Acoustic magazine.

Bref, foncez !!

Ordering the guitar from the website was very easy. Mr. Castelluccia always responded to my email within hours. The international shipping also worked well, even during winter. He did wait for a week when the temperature was not too low so that the guitar would not risk the temperature shock. Also, the Hiscox guitar case was fantastic, handsome and very sturdy. The guitar traveled across the Atlantic Ocean in it and arrived in perfect condition.

I still cannot believe I now have a guitar this beautiful. The mastery of Mr. Castelluccia is visible at each curve and each connection. The quality of the aged wood alone warms my heart. When I play the instrument the sound box vibrates like a big cat purring. And the aroma of the wood can instantly transport me to his workshop or back to 1930s.

Oldschool 48 is bringing so much joy to me. It has the ability to create such a wide range of sound from pianissimo to fortissimo and it amazes me that each note is sweet and nostalgic, crisp yet warm. I can feel that Mr. Castelluccia tested and retested the guitar during the production, to make sure that he brings out the most authentic Django sound.

Oldschool 48 is art. It makes me so emotional, so emotional that it prompts me write this review, because I hope more people in this world can feel the joy and appreciation I feel. There is so much love, history and beauty in this guitar.
